How to Navigate Body Dysmorphia as an Aesthetic Professional

Social media and celebrity comparisons breed appearance-deprecating behavior that can increase dissatisfaction in treatment results, overall looks and worsen body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). Aesthetic practitioners need to be highly tuned to the patient's potential for pre-existing and escalating body dysmorphia behavior. This discussion will help practitioners anticipate their patients' treatment outcome expectations and determine if their treatments will be able to meet those expectations or if they should deny treatment. Leslie Fletcher, NP-BC, will reveal results from a four-month pilot study where a multi-phasic, cryptic pre-screening collection tool was utilized in U.S. offices. A copy of this tool will be given to participants of this course.
